2006-02-24 [xido]: This is a really great idea for a new contest. I can't wait to see what is posted. I would join myself, if it weren't for having too many things to do... Scifi is sweet, though. Can't wait to see what we have going on... I may want to do a whole Scifi Theme page after this one.... ;)
2006-02-24 [Saffron]: Whee! (can I break copyrights of sf movies for this? XD)
2006-02-24 [Sunrose]: =) (What do you mean by 'break copyrights'? :o)
2006-02-24 [Saffron]: using their ideas of big scary sf computers like in the matrix of course :P
2006-02-24 [Sunrose]: Well as long as you completely made it yourself, fanart is allowed on Elftown :P
2006-02-24 [Mr.Scoop]: And what do you guys mean by 'commited art donors'? ^^'
2006-02-24 [Paul Doyle]: We're commitable, all right. Get the straitjackets. ;-)
2006-02-25 [Mr.Scoop]: Haha thanks ^^
2006-02-25 [Saffron]: um, on second thought I might not have time for this, the deadline is a little too soon...
2006-02-25 [iippo]: A month is a fairly normal deadline... The Valentine's contest deadline was something like week and a half.
2006-02-26 [Moonknight]: I'm not sure I understand this, do we have to make an image of what Elftron would look like as a sci fi character? like a monster or something?
2006-02-26 [Charybdis]: "Example: A huge monster science fiction computer." So yes, that's the kind of thing. :)
2006-02-26 [Mr.Scoop]: You can also check out some already posted images at Sci-fi Elftron Contest, Page 1 for some ideas ^_^
2006-02-26 [Bobolama]: Are self taken photos allowed ?
2006-02-26 [Sunrose]: Photos and manips are not allowed as entries :)
2006-02-27 [Moonknight]: hmm...entries 4 and 5 are retouched photos
2006-02-27 [Sunrose]: I already noticed and asked the creators about it..
2006-02-28 [Atayemi]: Is there a certain size limit?
2006-02-28 [Sunrose]: No, for presentation of the winners on Mainstreet we just create thumbnails :)
2006-02-28 [Atayemi]: Ahh great, thank you! :)
2006-02-28 [Mr.Scoop]: Ahhhhh! Well in that case I'll resize my image to be rectangular instead of square! It'll be much more beautiful :P
2006-02-28 [Sunrose]: Eh? The shape itself won't be influenced when we create a thumbnail. So I don't see what the difference is..
2006-02-28 [Mr.Scoop]: No but artistically, an image is more attractive when it's rectangular than when it's a square ^^
2006-02-28 [Paz]: Not necessarily ;) It depends on what the artist is going for in an image
2006-02-28 [Mr.Scoop]: That's true, but take my image for example: or The second one is clearly better.
2006-02-28 [Sunrose]: Not because of the shape though :P
2006-03-01 [Mr.Scoop]: Why is it better then? ^^
2006-03-01 [Veltzeh]: Well it is because of the shape in the way that the rectangle is a golden rectangle now. :P
2006-03-01 [Atayemi]: Is supposed to be sort of landscape-ish or something? :P
2006-03-01 [Sunrose]: I thought it was better because of the perspective it has now and the left part you added makes it more like a universe.. :)
2006-03-01 [Mr.Scoop]: Yes, and it's the rectangular part that allowed me to do that ;) I guess what I'm trying to say is: it isn't because of the rectanglular shape that it's better, but what the rectangle allows us to do...the extra space it gives us. We can do more in a rectangle than in a square ^^
2006-03-01 [Mr.Scoop]: I guess I didn't formulate my first statement as well as it could've been :P
2006-03-01 [Sunrose]: You could add extra space in a square too, if you'd make it bigger :P
2006-03-01 [Veltzeh]: It is the shape too... >_> http://en.wiki
2006-03-01 [Sunrose]: How can you know my opinion based on wikipedia? :P
2006-03-01 [Paul Doyle]: Well, it's because Wikipedia is like a blessing from the gods and goddesses. :PPPPPPPPPP
2006-03-01 [Veltzeh]: It's not based on wikipedia, it's based on the golden ratio of which wikipedia generously and easily provides more info. :P
2006-03-01 [Paul Doyle]: Think of monkeys at the monolith, in the film 2001: a Space Odyssey.
2006-03-01 [Mr.Scoop]: Well in the end it all adds up to the rectangular shape allows the artist to give an image a more perspective view which in turn adds life to the image ^^
2006-03-01 [Atayemi]: It looks great to me! :)
2006-03-01 [Mr.Scoop]: Thanks ^^
2006-03-01 [Atayemi]: :P I'm stuck for thought on my entry. I'm getting there. Good luck everyone! :)
2006-03-01 [Sunrose]: *le sigh* you know what I meant :P
2006-03-01 [Mr.Scoop]: Haha yea I do :P It was just an interesting 30 second conversation ^^
2006-03-10 [emo-pal]: yo ppl
2006-03-10 [power_over_love2]: kool pics
2006-04-09 [Bobolama]: So when do we know who the winner is ?
2006-04-09 [iippo]: There will be a poll on Mainstreet, I believe, to decide. Wait for it to happen. It's a tough contest.
2006-04-09 [Paz]: I think the crew picks something like the 'Top 5' and then post those on Mainstreet for the members to vote for :/ I wouldn't know...
2006-04-09 [iippo]: Top 10.
2006-04-09 [Paz]: Ah okay, I didn't know the number :)
2006-04-09 [iippo]: And I'll be whacked in the head with a rubber chicken if I got it wrong :P
2006-04-09 [Charybdis]: I think it has varied a bit in the past, but yeah, it's generally the top 10 that are featured in the poll :)
2006-04-10 [raynesprite]: *holding a rubber chicken* >.> *looks at mainstreet poll*
2006-04-10 [raynesprite]: its actually 11 get ready for your chicken bludgeoning XD
2006-04-10 [Paz]: Hee hee ;P
2006-04-10 [iippo]: Naw, you can't bludgeon a cross-eyes person: you'll miss! *has some oddly logic somewhere there, surely!*
2006-04-10 [Paz]: *Surely* But if you're not cross-eyed shouldn't your aim be well... on target ;P
2006-04-16 [elisha]: aww i wish i had seen this earlyer i would of loved to add a drawing.
